And then there were two more Gingers

This little flower fabric and vintage buttons seem to work with both skirts.
Yes, I am obsessed with the Ginger pattern by Colette. I should be over it, I know, but I am not! Nor shall I ever be, by the looks of my sewing room and closet, hehe. Here are two more Gingers, dare I say they have no matches yet. They are single, but soon I 'll be making another blouse to go with them. This is just a sneak peek, a short, little post.  These two skirts have been waiting on me for a little while now. I'll be getting back to them soon, sporting the whole look. I am still trying to decide on a blouse style. Any suggestions?

What are you making today?

Happy Spring!

Gina

  1. Ooh, I do love the floral fabric and pink buttons that you have selected for a blouse! I am by no means an expert in vintage, but Ginger has a 40's flare, and I think a peter pan collared blouse would be consistent with that look. A simple white blouse would also pair well with both skirts (and a lot of your other gingers).

You should learn how to knit, because a cute 1940's sweater would look so great with these skirts.

  2. They both look gorgeous! I love your piping, I still haven't tried this myself yet. I think for the plain ginger you need a dramatic top, maybe something with ruffles?

  5. You sure are good at piping I see you use it a lot. I have to pretty much make my own as I can't find it here, that's okay if I have the right size cording to cover. I love the pink buttons and the floral fabric that will work well. I'm finishing up a hem in my skirt on the Nancy Drew suit. Finally getting this done. Nan

  6. These Gingers are as lovely as the others you have completed. I especially love how the floral print will match both. You seem to be very organized in your sewing plans and work to keep your closet orphan free. I am currently working through my closet to determine my "closing the gaps" list for this year. Unfortunately, I fear it is going to be a long list!

    1. Hi Sam, The pink fabric was a heavy fabric found unmarked at Walmart. Sorry, it was a 2.00 a yard. The blue fabric is like a taffeta/silk blend. It's kinda heavy for a silk. XOX

  8. Lovely pastel skirts! I like how you organise your sewing to make co-ordinates that go together. I need to sit down and plan my sewing, if only I don't get so easily distracted :)

  9. Gotta love those Gingers! Your mail order blouse and scallop collar blouse are my favorites to date and either would look great with your new Gingers. Or, if you want to be a bit more dramatic, I could see something with a nice large bow detail at the neck closure. Have fun planning your coordinating top.

  10. Gina, love both your new gingers. So pretty and the fabric is just gorgeous.. Can't wait to see what kind of pattern you use for the blouse?
I have 2 gingers cut out ..just waiting on me to sew them.. I am even contemplating using the ginger pattern, and trying to cut a pattern for the pockets [like you did on your last check skirt?].
    Happy sewing.

  11. The style of this pattern is very attractive and feminine to me. I simply adore the color of pink in the first skirt. Of course, I am looking forward to your future, "fashion show." :)

I've been out of the sewing loop for awhile. I need to get back and begin practicing my basic skills again, and who knows, maybe one day, I'll be up for the challenge of making a Ginger. :)

  12. These skirts are lovely, no wonder you've made a few! As for blouse suggestions, there's so many great choices but I'm not giving you any specific pattern numbers. I think a blouse with an interesting shaped collar for these skirts would look really pretty.
