Recap of Me-Made May 2012

I need a restart button with Me-Made MAY 2012! I have been horrible with taking pictures. Please forgive me for not posting more. I have totally enjoyed the process this year. Because May is the end of our homeschool year, I have been super busy with the boys. Anyway enough excuses! Here are a few selected outfits that I managed to get pictures of. It's truly been fun wearing something handmade everyday. Although I need some elastic in my waistbands due to vacation goodies, it time once again to watch the calories! Anyway, as I look at my pictures I am thinking my skirts could be a bit shorter. It's funny how a picture can tell you so much about your sewing projects. I'll be back soon with another creation.

Have a wonderful Vintage Day!

Gina

    1. Thanks! The first dress is a dress I made last year, it cotton and from a 40's pattern. The second outfit I made both pieces, the pink 80's blouse and 50's skirt. The third outfit is a skirt that I made last year. It has a blouse that matches, but it was a cold day so I paired it with a thrifted sweater. The last outfit is one of my favorite skirts, it is from my own design/ plus using a basic pattern. The pockets have piping and buttonholes. It's been fun this year for sure!

  2. Your outfits look gorgeous! The burgundy/brown skirt (3rd photo) is my favorite, simply because it's one of my favorite colors.

  4. Geez, if I participated in Me-Mad May, I would be very cold. :D

You always look perfect. I had a good laugh about the elastic waists - you are as tiny as ever!

  7. Well my favorite is the checked skirt and I think the length on all of them is fine. However I tend to make mine too long and this is because the pattern is so long I will shorten it by 2 inches and when I get to the hemming it's still too long. I noticed too in one of my photos the skirts looks much nicer when it hit in a certain spot on my knee over what some of my longer ones did, this prompted me to watch the hems more.

  8. I love your sassy sweater and dress in the first photo. So cute on you. And the floral skirt in the last photo is adorable. Your skirts look fine the length they are, but I could see how you'd like them a bit shorter. You have cute legs so you can get away with it!:)

  9. Hi Gina.
Love your outfits! Would you ming telling me where you got the fabric of your skirt?
The 4th pic down, the red, black and white one. It's adorable! I love those type of
    prints. Thanks!

    1. Irene, it's vintage, I bought it from the thrift. I think it was from the 60's. I believe it's a duck fabric, but it has soften so much and is one of my favorite skirts to wear. Might I suggest keeping your eyes out for vintage fabrics at the thrifts I find the best ones there.

  10. Your outfits are always delightful. I think your skirt length is good. Turning vintage into shorter, i.e., above knee quickly takes away the vintage and disappoints. Besides, knees aren't all that attractive for the most part. I've always appreciated your vintage modesty.

  12. I adore all of your outfits!!! :D Also, totally random: but somehow I didn't pick up on that you homeschooled your kids! Kudos! (I was homeschooled/unschooled K-12 and plan on doing the same with any children SH and I may have in the future. ;)
