Wow, this has been fun. If you remember from last month's post, Casey and I exchanged patterns by mail and decided to sew them up. Well, we are all done with our projects and here's what we did. First up, Casey's pretty dress. Don't you just love it! I think it is fabulous. Perfect for summer. I love the little red buttons and the simple design is so elegant.
Great job Casey! And here's mine little number. I went for a sporty theme, using the two piece pattern she sent me. We both agree, that these patterns make up a comfy outfit, which is a win, win for both of us. Here are a few details on mine. I used linen like fabric. I did make one change, the skirt! I tried making the straight skirt from the pattern, but in the end, just wanted an A line style. Also I fiddled with the sleeves a bit, I was so tempted to leave 3/4 sleeves, but went for the short style. I am loving this two piece and plan on wearing it to a causal, picnic, style wedding coming up.
A big thank you to Casey, you have been much a sweetie! I am truly thankful for the online sewing community and the richness we all share with each other, you guys are priceless!
Have a wonderful vintage day!
Gina

ReplyDeleteOhhh, I love your fabric choice! You did a beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteI think it's so funny that we both used linen for our projects! ;) Perfect summer fabric, no? I just adore how your ensemble turned out; even though it's a 50s pattern, the skirt tweak gives it a 40s silhouette, in my opinion. Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you too (again! ;) for doing this pattern swap with me! Can't wait to see your version of the blouse...
You'll be the best dressed at the party, Gina!! So pretty on you and wow you are skinny. Whatever you are doing it's working for you girl.

Hi
ReplyDeleteI've never run into this blog before, (links are fun :-) and was wondering if you'd mind posting some photos of the simplicity 4538 pattern pieces. I'd love to see what they look like, flat. Might be interesting to try it out.
Please let me know if you do post photos for this.

ReplyDeleteHi Gina,
ReplyDeleteI have not been visiting blogs for some time and also I have not done much sewing, however, your stitching blog is the one I always visit when I have not been visiting stitching blogs for a while.
Can't help notice you have not been around for a while, I hope you are ok and still making lovely creations, I look forward to seeing you return to blogland soon!
Oh you are sweet lynn, yes, I would like to sew again. Been so busy with homeschooling this year, that I haven't much time for anything. My sewing machine has been calling for sure. Maybe this summer it will slow down.
DeleteHi Gina,
DeleteSO proud to hear you are well.. Have worried about you. And missed your wonderful sewing post.
I do understand being busy, and I know homeschooling has kept you really busy.. Take care and I look forward to when time allows you to sew again..
Big ole hugs...
I've checked in a few times and was hoping you were well, too! Glad to hear you are just busy and look forward to seeing what you sew when you get time again!
