Green Ginger
I've been jumping back into the sewing scene this week with the ginger by Colette patterns. This skirt makes me smile. Colette makes a lovely pattern that is easy to use. I've so enjoyed seeing different versions of this skirt on the web, you all are so creative. There is something about it's shape and lines that have bewitched me. The skirt is made with fabric from the thrift, I am thinking it's a broadcloth. I am not pairing it with this blouse, I just needed a way to show the belt area a little better and this solid peach blouse did the trick. I can't tell you how good it feels to sew again. I really love it so much. I would give up my T.V. any day for my sewing machine and my iron! Can't sew without them!
If you had to, what would you give up for your sewing machine? Just wondering.
Have a great vintage day!
Gina

pretty skirt! i love the ginger pattern so so much - it's such a simple, yet flattering design :)
ReplyDeletei already gave up my tv for my sewing machine :) hehe. i'm actually currently exercising this restraint right now - i've started packing for my move next week, and i've basically packed most of my belongings except my sewing machine & a little box of current projects! those will be the last things i pack & the first things i unpack! :)
Oh I love your version Gina, it's sooo nice! The Ginger Skirt is on my to do list at the moment, can't wait to sew it up. Oh and by the way, I think it looks great paired with the peach blouse!
ReplyDeleteIt's fab Gina - really chic. I agree about the pattern, it's such a lovely, flattering shape. I've made one and would definitely like to make more.
ReplyDeleteVery good to hear you've got your sewing mojo back! x
Such a beautiful skirt on you. Nice pattern I should get that.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of Collette patterns. Very simple. The outfit looks really nice on you. I love the green purse.
ReplyDeleteThose Collette patterns look yummy! I really love the dark green skirt, and the matching purse. It's very nice, and the blouse looks good too.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I start my sewing class today in just four hours, Yeah! :) So, I might be emailing you for some help on occasion. :)
Lookin' lovely Gina!
ReplyDeleteHi Gina, I just stumbled across your blog (a lot of random clicks from other blogs but I'm not sure where the last click was!) and have read lots and love it. I have been admiring your outfits for MMJune, they are lovely. We are in winter here (Melbourne Aust) but I am already feeling inspired looking at your summer skirts.
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely! There is a street in Hull called "The Land of Green Ginger" :) I gave up TV for sewing a long time ago. Luckily my husband watches it with the mute button on and subtitles so I can thunder away on my machine without disturbing him and vice versa!
ReplyDeleteYour skirt looks really great, Gina.
ReplyDeleteI love the colour - and that matching bag too!
Very nice!
blessings..Trish
What a great shade of green--perfect for all seasons! Glad you are back into sewing. I've been working on "closing the gaps" with a knitting project and planning projects for fall. I love this time of year!
ReplyDeleteOooh! I just love the color of the skirt--so pretty!!! Bravo on making such a beautiful skirt; I bet you'll get a lot of wear out of this. :)
ReplyDeleteThe idea of giving up my sewing machine makes me ill... lol. Although I guess in extreme circumstance I could give up three of them and my serger, and just keep the lightest and most transportable. ;) lol. (Just for the record: two of the machines I have are old cabinet models my parents are still kindly storing for me! I long to get my 1950 Singer back though!!!) I've even been known to take my sewing machine on trips with me--just so I can keep occupied in odd moments. hehe!
You can have my electric mixer. I'll keep my sewing machine, thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou can have my... hmm, carry-on suitcase and I'll take your green ginger.
You can have one of my Coach swingpacks and I'll take your green vintage handbag. I have the purrrrfect Miz Mooz to go with them (clearance rack; Nordstroms!).
Love the colour, it suits you very well, and you did a great job on the skirt. And an adorable purse that is a perfect match, Sweet!
ReplyDeleteI love the skirt! It's very flattering on you! (: I would have never thought to pair a peach blouse and green skirt, I really love the combination of the two. If I had to give up anything for my sewing machine, I would probably get rid of my iphone..it's too distracting! haha
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your Ginger !!! Great job !!
ReplyDeleteI *love* that green! Your skirt looks beautiful with the blouse. Just love everything... your purse too! :)
