The chickens on our farm












We love our chickens. They fit well into our "vintage" lifestyle. I thought you might like to see them in this short post. Sorry I have been so quiet! This last week we started our second year of homeschooling, so not much has happened in my sewing room yet, but I am gearing up for a fall wardrobe. Be back soon!

    Beautiful birds! My husband and I kept chickens for quite a few years, but we decided to take a break from them for a while. I miss their delicious eggs and their soothing clucking sounds. Hope to have them again someday. :)

    One thing I love besides sewing is chickens always have loved them too. Will be glad to see you back posting more about your projects, I'm on a roll here I practically can't keep up with myself. I'm just ordering some Dupioni silk for one of Gerties full gathered skirts I have a notion to make.

    They are cute. I have wanted chickens for a while now, but my hubby still needs convincing. (Plus to have them in the cities you need the permission of your neighbors). One of the gals in my knitting club even knits sweaters for her chickens in the winter.

    The second year of homescholing's better than the first. I wore that hat for 13 years. Godspeed, Mom.

    Love it that you shared these beauties with me today. Truly spectacular. Would enjoy seeing alll their eggs, too. A friend in Indiana is a pastor's wife. A family in her church provides her with the most lovely brown and even blue eggs. I know nothing about hens, their eggs, etc. Or roosters for that matter. I just know beauty when I see it! *wink*

    I LOVE your chickens - they are as beautifully dressed as you! Do you bathe them? They're just so clean and neat looking. And who can resist chicks?

    One of our neighbours in France kept hens, though not as glamorous looking as yours. They were allowed to go whereever they liked, and the eggs were miraculous - small, flavourful with the most amazing orange/gold yolks. I'm sure your chickens lay the same sort of eggs - just beautiful! xxx

    Sam, We have golden comets, plymouth rock, Wyandottes, and the easter egg chickens! We love them all. The golden comets are the sweetest birds!

    Your chickens are beautiful! We have been keeping chickens for a few years now. Nothing beats the fresh eggs. In the last few months I have been making homemade banana pudding pie with them and it is easy and so good.
