Biltmore!
We have been on vacation, sorry for my silence, but I was having a lot of much needed fun! My birthday was in September and I have always wanted to see the Biltmore house. So my family took me there. It was just beautiful, like traveling back in time. I felt like a character from a Jane Austin's book running around the estate. While we were there I found this ring. As part of being a vintage gal, I have always wanted an antique ring. So everyplace we go I look for one. My hubby bought this one for my birthday, it was a bit expensive, but I really love the retro styling of it. We also went to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and stayed in a cabin. I found these second hand shoes and felt they go with a lot of long skirts I have. It was really nice getting away.
The last few day I have been doing some sewing. Pants have been on my sewing table. I am hoping to have something to show you soon, but I don't like the outcome so far. The rise is always an issue for me, so I have a bit of adjusting to do.
Have a wonderful vintage day!
Gina

ReplyDeleteHaPpY (belated) BiRtHdAy! Looks like you had a blast!
ReplyDeleteAnd those shoes look velvety!
Can you just imagine living in a place like that? Love your ring and the shoes, oh my I too would love those to wear. Miss your sewing posts. Issues I know well about them and have them every single time I make something on the most simple of things too, they never seem to stop plaguing me
ReplyDeleteYaaay! I am so happy for you that you finally got to go! It is a beautiful place, isn't it? The house is fabulous, and the grounds are equally amazing. Glad you found some nice goodies too! Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteWow! Biltmore looks amazing, it is so great that you were able to have a little visit. Very sweet of your husband to give you a birthday gift that you have been wanting. Happy belated birthday!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog, & am eager to read your experiences in pants sewing. I've never tried making them for myself (do children's leggings from the 90's count?), & find myself really confused & intimidated when I look at instructions to make them. I've a feeling that I just need to forge ahead anyhow...if it turns out badly, it will be a learning piece, I guess!
ReplyDeletesincerely,

Dear Gina,
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure you are!
About the dresses you are about to make, from where are you getting the patterns?
And like you, it is all about personal conviction :)
email me when you can so we can chat!

Happy Belated birthday! My birthday was in September too (42) and my husband and I went to Seattle and Portland. We almost made it to Asheville once because my husband was going to go to race driving scool there but we had to cancel the trip.
