So for the first lap of the race, I bring you a blouse and skirt combo. This powder, blue Ginger I believe works well with this little, pink blouse I made from McCall's 8609. It's been fun making random blouses to go with my standard Gingers. I like the butterfly sleeves from this pattern because they are easy on the arms, although I must tell you that I found them a bit tricky to sew together. The idea for this outfit was inspired by one of my handbags, no big surprise there. It's been part of my collection for a while and it was time for a proper matching outfit.
Although I will be making another sailor blouse out of the same fabric as the skirt to make a suit effect soon. Finally, I pulled the look together with this 50's cuff bracelet that I fell in love with. I love the weight of it, it's really well made.
I really tried to get some pictures today, but the wind was really bad! My indoor lighting wasn't great, so even though I love this outfit, I don't believe the pictures do it justice.
Happy Spring Everyone!!!!
Oh, I love the sleeves on your blouse! And how pretty is your background - all that green & those pink flowers! :D
ReplyDeleteSo cute! The colors are so spring! And I love how you coordinated your accessories so well. :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a beautiful spring day! And that's the perfect outfit for it. :)
ReplyDeleteGina, this outfit is so darling! You are so great at sewing up a completed outfit. It must be so fun to have a rainbow of Ginger skirts to choose from when getting dressed in the morning. I need to get this pattern. Ooh, and I love the idea of a matching sailor style top to go with the skirt - looking forward to that.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really lovely outfit Gina and I love the finishing touches of the bracelet and handbag! The blossom in the background is so pretty too! You look fab. X
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is like a breath of fresh spring air Gina! I absolutely adore it, you look so chic wearing it!
ReplyDeleteYou look totally adorable and I love the pastels together.
ReplyDeleteHi Gina
ReplyDeleteLovely work! I also love the color combo that you used.
Can you tell me what material you used for your skirt
and blouse? Thank-you
I always enjoy seing your sewing projects!:)
Irene
The skirt fabric is from the thrift store, it's really heavy, dense poly blend would be my best guess, it's very unusual, it doesn't feel like the light weight 60's fabrics I have seen, maybe there is a bit of wool. The blouse is a rayon challis, very light with not much structure. Thanks Irene for stopping by! :)
DeleteI love the color combination...its looks light on the eyes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a super outfit - those sleeves are just lovely, really flattering and unusual. They make the bouse so you should be pleased with yourself for working out how to do them! I love the whole outfit - it is what your sweet bag has been patiently waiting 50 years for! Pretty tree in blossom behind and the light looks fantstic outside - spring is here! xxx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colour palette. Picks up the pink of the cherry blossom and the blue of the sky behind you! Love love love that cuff bracelet too!

Beautiful! I just love the soft, spring-like colors of this outfit! You look gorgeous, Gina! :) That bracelet is really neat too--I always adore chunky, vintage pieces like that in pretty colors. Shall have to keep my eyes peeled at the thrift stores for something similar. ;)
ReplyDeleteGina such a beautiful outfit! The first photo is stunning with the blossoming tree behind you. Great job! Sam xox
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely outfit - and it's so cool that it matches your surroundings, with the cherry (?) tree and blue sky!
ReplyDeleteThey aren't Cherry, believe it or not we don't really know what they are. HeHe we just love them
DeleteVery pretty pink with the blue. I really like the sleeves on that blouse. You match your background spring scenery very nicely. :) I just completed my second Ginger skirt. Gotta love the versatility of that pattern.
ReplyDeleteI love, love this blouse.. beautiful and comfortable looking outfit.Happy spring sewing.
ReplyDeleteWhat interesting sleeves! And that bracelet is the perfect finishing touch :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a nice example of your good taste and practical selection of fabric and pattern. Such a nice job. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy gosh the photos are down right stunning with the pink tree in bloom and you in the pink and blue it's so perfect. I always think you do well with you sewing and then the photos. It's so rugged outside here it's hard for us to do the photos, it's freezing or too windy most of the time, or down right messy like it is today with our snow melting. How is the Couture class going? I'm waiting on my muslin fabric to arrive. I'm pretty sure I won't be using that pattern that comes with the class.
ReplyDeleteLovely as usual, Gina!
ReplyDeletereally pretty combination of colours
ReplyDeleteGina, just had to tell you, I loved this blouse pattern. I found it on ebay and won the bid..It arrived in the mail today. I can't wait to make it.. [But, I have to grade the pattern first, the yucky part.ha]. thanks for sharing the pattern info.
ReplyDeletecute outfit, love the blouse...
